Katie Wilson has built her career on fighting for justice and fairness in the courtroom. She currently serves as a Senior Litigator in the Mental Health Division of the Harris

County Public Defender’s Office, where she stands up for the rights of individuals suffering from mental illness and ensures their equal treatment under the law.

Before returning to her hometown of Houston, Texas, Katie served as a Deputy District Attorney (2009 – 2017) gaining extensive trial experience, advocating for the state and giving a voice to victims. In private practice Katie has served 100s of individual clients across five counties in Houston and the surrounding area. 

She obtains dismissals in more than half her cases, has secured post-conviction relief for a client wrongfully convicted and sentenced to life, and works daily to connect clients with mental-health treatment. Having practiced on both sides of the courtroom, Katie brings a balanced, firsthand understanding of the justice system. 

Katie earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Texas State University in Applied Sociology, Minor in Psychology. Katie earned her law degree with a full ride

scholarship at the University of Denver – Sturm College of Law. With over 15 years of courtroom experience, completing over 65 first-chair jury trials and litigating 100s of contested hearings, she has built a reputation as a strong advocate for fairness, accountability, and justice.
